Choosing the right column types for cleaner and more reliable data

Clean workflows depend on clean data. Teams often treat fields as a small detail, but field design is what shapes consistency, reporting, and day-to-day usability.

1

Match each field to its job

Text fields are flexible but easy to misuse. Wherever possible, use structured field types like dates, dropdowns, amounts, and statuses to keep records consistent.

2

Design for reporting later

If teams will filter, group, or analyze a value later, the field type should support that from the start. Good column choices make later views and dashboards more useful.

3

Simplify entry for the team

The right field types reduce decision fatigue. Teams work faster when the system guides input instead of asking them to improvise every time.
